Nails
that say it all
By Esther Williams
Hands reveal the kind of person you are. So if you want to jazz
them up this Valentine’s Day you need to head to the Nailz
Bar at Crescat Boulevard where they offer a range of nail art designs
to suit the theme of the month. Run by British Cosmetics, the booth
is well stocked with Peggy Sage products, considered the premier
artificial nail suppliers in France.
Hand
painted butterflies or roses, shimmering graduated hearts, blood
red stones or silver lines are painted onto shades of pink, red,
silver, gold or white. You can even have the word ‘Love’
inscribed on each nail.
The
process is fairly simple, as demonstrated by Ruwani, Harshi and
Agra, the professionals in the business. Nails are filed, buffed
and painted with a base coat and a polish colour of your choice.
The design you choose is then painted before the final topcoat,
completing the job in 45 minutes tops. Prices start from Rs. 500.
Do
not despair if your nails are short. You have a choice of attaching
false acrylic nail extensions (a build up made of acrylic powder)
or gel nails which you can’t distinguish from the real ones.
Depending on how well you take care of them, they are quite long
lasting.
Well-manicured
hands speak of good grooming. Reiterating this, British Cosmetics
Director, Nirosha Jagodaarachchi who has brought Peggy Sage products
into the Sri Lankan market says that although Sri Lankans take care
of the face and body, they neglect the nails. Nails, she insists
reflect your personality and everyone, including professionals use
hands a great deal - while greeting others and to express themselves
better. “Nails therefore play an important role in showing
ones capabilities,” she adds, as they are also telling of
poor health.
Valentine’s
Day is to do with loving and caring for our loved ones and so those
of you who are looking for a novel way to please their loved ones
can present them with a gift voucher from Nailz.
