Sihala
Urumaya to go solo
Sihala Urumaya is to contest the forthcoming General Elections alone,
with a pledge to carry forward Ven. Gangodawila Soma Thera's vision.
At the Colombo District Convention held last week the Sihala Urumaya
had pledged to continue the mission of Ven. Soma Thera to send a
true Sinhala Buddhist voice to Parliament and enact the Unethical
Conversions Bill.
The
SU had earlier rejected joining the newly formed United People's
Freedom Alliance, as it had said it was ready to negotiate with
the LTTE unconditionally.
The
Sihala Urumaya would be handing over nominations which are scheduled
for February 24 from Kandy. It would also commence its election
campaign with a rally in Kandy on March 2. |
