Sanjeewa: An innovative dancer

Suminda Sanjeewa a promising dancer from Negombo has introduced a force of stylished dancing. This young dancer also has his own dancing troupe and his maiden show was held recently in his hometown, Negombo.

“There was a very good response for my first dancing show titled “DJ Dancing Night” and I like to take it to other parts of the country as well”, Sanjeewa said. Experimenting with the western forms of dancing, Sanjeewa had evolved this new style is of the view that it’s quite different and hard compared to other forms of dance.

“This is a very fast style of dancing and one has to do lot of hard work in maintaining a healthy body and one also needs regular practices to continue it”, the enthusiastic young dancer said. He has already planned several shows for this year and said there are problems with regard to finding sponsors.

“If someone is prepared to sponsor the outstation shows we are prepared to go anywhere”, Sanjeewa said showing a keen interest in popularising his new dancing format.

Sanjeewa with his dancing troupe also had planned to do a stage play and all the income earned through the dancing shows have been used to promote the new project. In addition Sanjeewa himself, an actor had done a minor role in Ranjan Ramanayake’s film ‘One Shot’ which is still to be released.
