Chity
back in Lanka after the Japan tour
Ex Friends fame Chitral Sompala has just arrived back home from
his Japan Tour with German band “Firewind”. The gigs
on the other side of the world, his love to the genre metal, globalisation
processes in music business and the future of heavy metal were the
subjects of his brief chat with the TV Times
Chitral “Chity” Sompala is a vocal coach and music teacher
at Modern Music School in Trier/Germany and has proved his vocalistic
multitalent in various hard rock projects Faro, Avalon and the Swedish
Symphonic Metal outfit Moonlight Agony’s “Echoes of
Nightmare” which will be released this year.
In
January the singer went on tour through Japan with the Melodic-Power-Metal-Bank
“Firewind” including the ambiguous young Greek guitar
hero Gus G. (“Dream Evil/yestic Prophecy/Nightrage). The Real
“Firewind” Singer Stephen Fredrick couldn’t participate
because of personal circumstances. At concerts in Osaka and in Tokyo
“Firewind” was stormed by their fans.
Their
set included songs from the CD “Between Heaven and Hell”,
which received very good critics among the metal-scene, as well
as songs of the album “Burning Earth” which has been
developed with genious detail-work as a studio project in 2003 and
is supported by a new percussion group in the band.
Bass
player Petros Christo and drummer Stian Christofferson and Keyboardist
Bob Kastionis being on top of their condition. “Firewind”
cross the borders of Power-Metal in their ambiguous new album and
they produced a metal-classic which will be liked not only by metal
fans worldwide. Songs like “I am the Anger” and “Immortal
Lives Young” which includes a wonderful solo-part should be
first choice of everyone . |
