UPFA advisor quits media posts
By Harinda Vidanage
Wijedasa Rajapakse, a prominent legal advisor who played a major
role in the drafting of the UPFA constitution has resigned from
top posts in Lake House and Rupavahini. The Sunday Times learns
that the move was linked to the omission of his name from the national
list.
Sources
close to Mr. Rajapakse told the Sunday Times the SLFP leadership
had given him hopes that he is the party's Justice Minister in waiting
and he would be sent to parliament through the national list. Mr
Rajapakse, who held the post of managing director at Lake House,
has sent his letter of resignation to Information Minister Lakshman
Kadirgamar and returned the official vehicle.
But
Kadirgamar is yet to accept the letter of resignation sent in by
Mr Rajapakse. Meanwhile Mr. Rajapakse has sent his resignation letter
to the chairman of Rupavahini where he was a Board member.
Confirming
his resignation from both institutions, Mr Rajapakse told the Sunday
Times that he resigned from the posts because he had too many court
cases to handle. |
