ICC
to move its HQ out of England
From Neville de Silva in London
The International Cricket Council is likely to move its headquarters
out of England but Sri Lanka is not one of the venues being looked
at. Among the six destinations that are being considered are Singapore,
Dubai and Malaysia in Asia, and Ireland, Monaco and Switzerland
in Europe.
The
issue is expected to be taken up at this week's ICC board meeting
in New Zealand. Most of the destinations being considered offer
tax concessions than the UK, reports The Independent's Colin Crompton.
"The
ICC management were asked to prepare a paper looking at cricketing
and commercial reasons for being in this country or other possible
locations," Brendan McClements, ICC Corporate Affairs Manager
was quoted as saying. If the ICC moves out of its present headquarters
at Lords it will end a 95-year association with what has been considered
the capital of world cricket. |
