Lanka to miss HK and Singapore 7s

The world's premier Rugby Sevens the famous Hong Kong Sevens will
miss Sri Lanka for the very first time after its inception in 1976.
In the very first tournament Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Japan
and Sri Lanka participated. This tournament being the best in Asia
is a crowd puller which attracts no less than 40000 spectators.
Hong
Kong awarded the prestige of hosting the 2nd Rugby World Cup Sevens
was a huge success in a memorable event not only for Hong Kong but
also for the Asian region. The Hong Kong Sevens is now considered
the IRB's "Jewel in the Crown" which is continuing with
huge success in the sevens circuit will host the Rugby World Cup
sevens in 2005.
This
years tournament will kick off on 26 March with the game between
the All Blacks and the Asian Champions Japan. The total prize money
is USD150000 Fiji (10), New Zealand (8), and Australia(5) are the
leading winners in this tournament, England are the defending champions. |
