Omanthai
checkpoint open to uncleared area voters
The Omanthai check point in Vavuniya will be open from 4 a.m. till
5 p.m. on April 2 for civilians from the uncleared area to participate
in the election.
A
total of 66,066 voters from the uncleared areas of Mullaitivu and
Vavuniya Districts are eligible to travel through this checkpoint
to the cleared area to cast their votes at Omanthai Maha Vidyalaya.
Sixty
four cluster polling booths will be set up. The buses carrying the
voters will be allowed up to the polling station and a head count
of commuters will be taken by the Police on duty.
The
Omanthai checkpoint will be closed at 1 p.m. on April 1 to facilitate
polling arrangements by civil authorities and the Sri Lanka Army.
Civilian movement or movements of goods via this checkpoint will
not be allowed from 1 p.m. on April 1 till 5 p.m. on April 2.
