regrets not choosing legal profession
President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the Chief Guest at
the 30th Annual convocation of the Bar Association yesterday entreated
members of the Judiciary to eradicate corruption from the legal
system. She urged them to remove Sri Lanka from being ranked as
a country where the Police and the Judiciary were seen by international

"As
a Head of State and most importantly as a citizen I strongly believe
in a strong and independent judiciary", President Kumaratunga
said adding that she regretted that she had not chosen the legal
profession as she had first aspired to, which according to her 'would
have saved her from a lot of situations'. Ikram Mohamed, President's
