Hot weather will continue
The prevailing hot weather is likely to continue at least for some time , officials said. Chief Meteorologist at the National Meteorological Centre S.H. Kariyawasam told The Sunday Times that the sun was overhead at the equator on March 21 and is now almost overhead at our latitude and therefore the temperatures have soared.

CEB Chairman M. Zubair said power cuts would be inevitable as people used more fans and air-conditioners these days. Meanwhile, Water Board Chairman Vadivel Sathyanadan said that for the moment the water supply would not be affected.
