Rosanna
reigns at charity banquet
By Nedra Wickremesinghe
It was an evening of subdued elegance when Rotary International
hosted a Charity Banquet graced by reigning Miss World Rosanna Davison
at the King's Court of the Trans Asia Hotel on Thursday.
The
evening began with cocktails and guests then adjourned to the banquet
hall to await the arrival of Miss World who made a stunning entrance
looking as enchanting as a fairy-tale princess in her bejewelled
crown.
She
wore a soft blue organdy dress with a deep neckline and diamond
earrings. Strappy diamante-studded high-heeled sandals completed
the picture. The ceremony was delayed by a few minutes to let the
battery of photographers present have their moment with 'the most
beautiful girl in the world'.
District
Governor Rotarian Gamini Jayawardena made the opening address followed
by a speech by Co-Chairman Rotary Centre Krish Rajendran. Immediately
after the sumptuous five-course dinner served with the compliments
of the Trans Asia Hotel, there were many donations made to the Rotary
cause.
There
was pin-drop silence as Miss World made her speech, touching on
her contribution to humanitarian service. The funds raised by this
Charity Banquet were testimony of her "working for a good cause
as the reigning Miss World," she said.
