CCC School of Cricket has gone from strength to strength

CCC School of Cricket since its inception (in 1998) has gone from strength to strength. The school is headed by Nelson Mendis.

The school has the blessings of the former Chairman of the Gymkhana Club Ranjit Jayasekera. Other officials of the CCC and ardent supporters gave encouragement for its continuity.

They celebrated their sixth anniversary with an inter-house six-a-side cricket festival at the MCA grounds recently - followed by a family get-together.

Former Sri Lanka captain and the newly appointed ICC match Referee, Roshan Mahanama and his wife Jeeva were the chief guests.

Roshan addressed the kids before the awards ceremony. He instilled on them to work hard and always adhere to the rules of the game.

Roshan Mahanama said in his book there were no excuses for failiure. He stressed on them that with better application and determination they could overcome reversals. Mahanama said that as a past cricketer that he has faced setbacks on and off the field. But he always fought his way back and added to respect authority at all given times. He said that parents should not get involved or blame the coaches over selections. But inspire them to regain their place with more commitment. Over 100 young prospects took part in this tournament.
