Army win late General Denzil Kobbekaduwa Trophy

Army SC showed their power play and stamped their class as a major force in this year’s Inter Club season when they outclassed the much fancied Havelocks SC in the final of the Inter club sevens by 33 points to 21.

The soldiers outclassed their opponents through some speedy moves to score 5 tries. They were on top form in the first half scoring through Sithara Fernando (2) and Kapila Knowlton (1). As the game was contested evenly one player from each team were sent to "sin Bin" for foul play. The key feature of this years tournament was the participation of the Dubai team led by former Police player Roger Rodrigo. Kandy SC and CR & FC kept away from the tournament.

The Plate championship was won by Sri Lanka Airforce, the Bowl championship by Old Zahirians and the Shield championship were won by Petersons. The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) introduced 2 new championships for this years tournament which were won by Science "Maroons" and Polonnaruwa RFC.

The Inter Club season for 2004 will kick off on 23 April.
