LTTE
dislodges Karuna in swift attack
Tiger guerrilla leader Velupillai Prabhakaran launched a swift and
devastating pre-dawn military offensive on Friday to dislodge his
renegade Batticoloa-Amparai leader Karuna.
By
noon yesterday, Karuna's cadres had withdrawn from most positions
held in the northern parts of Batticoloa district upto the banks
of the Verugal River. Karuna and his cadres are now said to be in
the general area south of Batticaloa district. Security sources
believe Mr. Prabhakaran may launch an all-out offensive to take
him captive.
