FIFA
President initiates development programme
President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Joseph
Sepp Blatter, has initiated a new development programme called the
"COM-UNITY" Programme to be held on May11, 12 and 13th
2004 at the Football House. This is the pioneer effort in this Asian
region to hold such a Programme. The first of its kind was held
in Botswana.
The
objective of this course according to the Director of Marketing
and Communications of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL),
Rukmal Perera, is that Manilal Fernando, President of the FFSL and
FIFA Development Officer for the South East Asian region wishes
to improve the relations between the Community and the Football
Federation.
Thereby
a workshop that can be essentially described as a "Presidential
Programme" placing its emphasis on "Communication through
Unity", which is essentially an awareness programme, has been
arranged. The purpose is to improve the awareness of football.
"We
have to emphasise the value and importance that soccer can have
in a society. We have invited people from the Government i.e. the
Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Jeevan Kumaranatunga, Deputy
Minister, Sripathi Sooriyarachchi. Others invited are those from
N.G.O's and other marketing partners and pf course, the Media' outlined
Rukmal Perera. Further the FIFA experts will distribute communication
and marketing skills to help attract marketing partners.
Five
eminent personalities from FIFA will be called upon to hold this
conference. Jurg Nepfer -Development Division. Aelian Leiblang from
FIFA Communication, Jungi Ugura from Japan Executive, Clare Kenny-AFC
Marketing and Mohamed S. Hussein from Iraq. |
