to meet Powell in Washington
Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar is scheduled to visit Washington
DC on May 12 for a meeting with US Secretary of State Colin Powell.
This will be the Minister's second official overseas visit of the
four permitted per year to each Cabinet Minister by the new Presidential
Code of Conduct.
Mr.
Kadirgamar returned to Colombo on Thursday after visiting China
and India where he met his counterparts Li Zhaoxing in Shanghai
and Yashwant Sinha in New Delhi.
In
Washington, Mr. Kadirgamar and (Ret.) Gen. Powell are due to discuss
bi-lateral issues and the stalled peace process. The Sri Lanka donor
conference scheduled for June 3 in Brussels is also likely to be
on the agenda.
Meanwhile,
Industries, Tourism and Investments Minister Anura Bandaranaike
is due to leave for the UAE tomorrow to attend an ' Arabian Travel
Mart ' in Dubai. |
