launches this year's Young Business Start-up Awards

Live-WIRE recently launched the Young Business Start-up Awards (YBSA)
for the fifth consecutive year recently with entries closing on
May 14.
The YBSA 2004 is targeted at start-up businessmen in the Micro and
Small Enterprise Sector (MSME) in Sri Lanka with Rs.400,000 worth
of prizes will on offer at this year's competition.
Three
regional heats, to be conducted in July, will precede the national
finals in September later this year.
"In
an effort to make the competition more accessible to rural based
entrepreneurs and to encourage greater regional representation from
all nine provinces in the country the three regional heats will
be held in the Galle, Anuradhapura and Ratnapura districts this
year," said Michael de Soyza, Project Manager for Shell LiveWIRE,
in a statement.
The
Young Business Start-up Awards programme aims to recognize the achievements
of young people aged between 16 and 32 years who have been in business
for not less than three months but not exceeding two years.
Applications
for the Shell LiveWIRE Young Business Start-up Awards are available
from the Shell Live-WIRE Trust No. 498, R.A. de Mel Mawatha, Colombo,
the Chambers of Commerce in Jaffna, Monaragala, Vavuniya, Trincomalee,
Sabaragamuwa and Hambantota, all branches of the Sabaragamuwa Development
Bank, including the districts of Ratnapura, Kalutara, Colombo and
Kegalle, among other places.
