North-East
Reconstruction Fund revived
The
government has revived plans for a separate mechanism to disburse
foreign aid and supervise projects in the north-east, World Bank
country director Peter Harrold said.
The
North-East Reconstruction Fund (NERF), the multilateral mechanism
to disburse grant funds to the north-east managed by the World Bank,
is to be re-activated, he said.
Such
foreign aid is channelled through the government to the North-East
provincial council and then to government agents and individual
projects.
"Such
a mechanism helps the peace process by bringing all parties (in
the conflict) together to work together on a common aim," Harrold
said.
