Spy
bosses recalled
Some spy bosses posted to Sri Lanka diplomatic missions abroad are
to be re-called. Insiders say such capitals would include sleuths
serving in France and Thailand.
New
faces are also to move into other world capitals. An investigator
is to go to Canada whilst the other names are still being gone into.
Eating
into expiry dates
Like in other parts of the world, armed forces in Sri Lanka
also have strict procedures when it comes to procurements. More
so when it is food items for some unscrupulous traders who have
been carrying out a lucrative trade cleverly changing the expiry
dates.
One
such instance is the case of a supplier who provided large stocks
of cheese to a service arm. The regulation said it should have a
shelf life of two years. In other words the expiry date be after
two years.
But
one influential supplier had succeeded in palming off stocks carrying
a shelf life of one and half years. The supplier used hired labour
to paste stickers over the original one. As one wag remarked, the
supplier was good at saying "cheese" to those dealing
in procurements. |
