By Dilshath Banu
More than ninety Sri Lankans employed in Kuwait returned yesterday
alleging ill treatment by their employers. Foreign Employment Bureau
officials told The Sunday Times that 173 out of 305 Sri Lankans
were still in a detention camp at the Lankan Embassy in Kuwait.
They would be flown back next week. Most of the detainees were housemaids.
Foreign
Employment Bureau officials were negotiating with several airlines
to bring back these detainees. The Workers' Welfare Fund is to discuss
the amount of compensation to these returnees with the Foreign Bureau
of Employment Chairman, the officials said. |
