- ‘Life of Song’- Then and Now
‘Dalreen - ‘Life of Song’, a musical extravaganza
to felicitate Dalreen Suby will be staged on June 27 at 6.30 pm
at the BMICH. ‘Dalreen - Then To Now’ will feature Dal
as the main attraction in different layers to reflect her career
from 1966 to 2004.
The
music for the show will be by the Gypsies and will feature Maxi
Rozairo of Fireflies, Spitfires fame, Mignonne Fernando of Jetliners,
Donald Pieris of ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘Orpheus’
and ‘Mirage fame’, Damien of ‘Rendevonz’
and ‘Purple Rain’ fame, Sunil Perera of Gypsies, Sohan
of the X’Periments, Noeline, Clifford Richards, Trevin Joseph,
Janapriya of (Two-’s Comapny), Antoniette de Alwis, Malik
Seneviratne, Deva de Silva and Mariazelle.
Her
daughters Debbie and Thahani will sing with their mom for the first
time on stage.‘DAL’, was born to Douglas and Decima
de Kretser. Her mother was a singer and used to sing with her sister
Mignonne and was known as the ‘KELAART SISTERS’.
She
has now gone into the Oriental scene as well as she has many Sinhala
hits to her credit, songs like ‘Tikki Tikkiri’ ‘Praenae
Hatak’ ‘Surangi’ to name a few, and with her entry
into the Sinhala scene her music has taken her around the world.
