Fine
dining in Kamatha at Earl’s Regency, Kandy
Traditional Kamatha and Goyamketha came into the life of a five
star hotel in Kandy just to welcome Goh Chok Tong, the Prime Minister
of Singapore.
Earl’s
Regency in Kandy last week. converted into a village style paddy
cultivation area and the harvested paddy being converted to rice
being shown by the village folks. A special ‘Kamatha’
(paddy harvesting area) was built inside the hall.
A
typical oriental music troupe provided the light music during lunch
time in a specially prepared pondium which is made out of natural
leaves, bamboo, coir,and jute.
He
has been given a Royal welcome at the entrance to the Hotel by providing
30 different drum beats performed by Kandyan drummers. Garlanded
and received by the General Manager Roshan Fernando and his staff
of the Hotel.
He
has been offered typical Sri Lankan lunch presented in “Fine
Dining” theme at the specially decorated banquet hall. At
the entrance to the Hall, there was a pandal erected with coconuts
welcoming the Prime Minister.
The
menu consisted of giant prawns with mango and avocado as an appitizer
followed by green herb soup (Gotukola) with garlic flakes. The main
course was dressed in a special cane basket with yellow rice, curried
lobster and complemented with cadju curry and brinjal morju.
Kiri
and kithul pani parfait with seasonal fruits was presented in a
special container made out of bamboo. It was a great culinery experience
for the Prime Minister and his delegation of 50 senior ministers
and officials who enjoyed this lunch with a difference. |
