TV
crews allowed as House meets after six weeks
Maximum security has been assured to Parliamentarians when sessions
resume on Tuesday after an extra long break with public galleries
closed, but with access for television crews.
Parliament's
Secretary General Priyani Wijesekara said all steps had been taken
to ensure maximum security and prevent incidents similar to what
happened at earlier sittings.
Ms.
Wijesekara said TV cameras would be allowed only for Tuesday's sittings
as six new MPs were being sworn in. Citing the inconvenience caused
to people specially school children at the previous session as reasons
for the closure of the Parliament Gallery for the public Ms. Wijesekera
said it would be a temporary closure.
Meanwhile,
despite intense speculation that the UPFA could obtain the support
of the CWC to gain a majority in Parliament, the negotiations have
broken down with the government's team looking for other options.
