Notice on Cabinet and Prabhakaran
The Court of Appeal has issued notice on the Cabinet of Ministers in a case challenging the legality of the Ceasefire Agreement. Notice was also issued on LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.

The Court of Appeal President, Justice Saleem Marsoof, ordered that notices be issued to the Cabinet of Ministers, as the petitioners have sought to add the present Cabinet as respondents.

The application was filed by the Sihala Urumaya, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna(JVP) and Sinhala Jathika Sanvidanaya, seeking the annulment of the Ceasefire Agreement signed in 2002 between the then Government and the LTTE. The petitioners cited the present Cabinet, previous Cabinet, the leader of the LTTE Veluppillai Prabhakaran and the Attorney General as respondents.

The case is to be taken up again on October 1 and the petitioners are to seek clarification from courts on how the notice is to be issued on Mr. Prabhakaran.
