Kwon
walks away with US$ 10,000
The 2004 Men's Futures Tennis Tournament organised by the Sri Lanka
Tennis Association was called to a finish at the SLTA courts yesterday.
From the many participants from all around the globe, the USA came
on top as the dominant force to win the 10,000US$ prize. Chris Kwon
of the USA was the winner of the 2004 Men's Futures title and the
recipient of the cash prize. The runner up was Adam Vijmelka also
from the USA. Chris Kwon beat his fellow country mate 6-4, 6-0in
the final.
In
the women's final Su Chang from China beat her opponent Thong Fong
in the finals that was held last week. Chang is ranked the junior
world number two currently. The age categorised events for this
tournament will be worked off during the course of next week at
the SLTA courts in Colombo.
Thirty
two boys and sixteen girls from around the world will participate
in this event. The SLTA plays host to as many as twelve international
tennis tournaments a year. |
