No
brakes for bus fares
The Private Bus Owners' Association is set to increase the minimum
bus fare by a further 50 cents, if the price of diesel goes up.
Private Bus Owners Association President Gemunu Wijeratna said if
the price of a litre of diesel was increased by Rs. 4, the minimum
fare should be fixed at Rs. 4. in terms of the fare policy.
"There
will be no increase in other prices. Only the minimum charge will
be increased." Mr. Wijeratna assured. But if the diesel price
hike amounted to more than Rs. 4, then they would have to revise
all fares, he said adding that he believed that an increase in diesel
prices was imminent. |
