Tame
draw at Mt. Lavinia
By Bilal Yusuf
The St. Thomas’ - St. Aloysius encounter ended
in a tame draw when play was called off early at Mount Lavinia yesterday
due to bad light.
S.Thomas'
were bundled out for 146 runs in their first innings with T.A.M.
Peris stroking 42 runs for the Thomians. The pace spin combination
of P.Prasad (36 for 4) and W.Radika (36 for 3) helped restrict the
Thomians to this low total.
The
visitors who were reeling at 51 for 5 at the end of the first day's
play went on to score 119 runs, thanks to a painstaking 35 runs
off 179 balls by D. Samarawickrema.
For
the Thomians the main bowler was N. Adams who grabbed 4 wickets
for 27 runs. The boys from Galle fell short of the Thomian first
innings total due to some negative batting , where many loose balls
bowled by the Thomians were played defensively.
Scores:
S. Thomas - 146 (T.A.M. Peris 42, P.G
Pusagola 27; P. Prasad 36/4, W. Radika 36/3) and 55 for 1 (K,N.
Imbuldeniya 35 n.o)
St. Aloysius - 119 (D. Samarawickrema 35, L.R.
Kumara 18, N. Adams 27/4, S. Kularatne 31/2) |
