Fierce Racing at Pannala on Nov. 21
The concluding round of the Suntell WOW Championship will be held on November 21, 2004. In terms of the Championship table, Shehara de Silva and Ravi Mayadunne are tied at 16 points each, as is Dilshard Hamdoon and Sisira Gunesekera.

In the event for Pre 1985 Formular Fords Shehara must beat Ravi to keep her contest for the championship alive. Ravi Mayadunne is a seasoned campaigner and probably not let chivalry get in the way of his championship. Niroshan Pereira who has seen a lot of the back of Shehara would probably like to change this trend and see the front of her in his rear view mirror. Hence, spectators are assured of very intense and competitive racing.

The one make event of Ford Lasers is also very hotly contested. Sisira Gunasekara is definitely one of the most technically correct drivers in the country. He will pit his years of experience and significant natural talent against the youthful flamboyance of Dilshard Hamdoon. Dilshard of rally fame has been performing very creditably in circuit racing of late. However, beating Sisira would be a daunting task for any driver. Numerous other drivers in this event are all very much on the pace and here too spectators will see a large grid of very hot competition.

The Super Car event has always been the crowd puller at Pannala. In terms of the championship, Dinesh Deheragoda has a clear lead over his competitors. However at the previous race meet at Pannala veteran Reyaz Farouk got the better of Dinesh driving in wet conditions. Hence, though it is not likely that Dinesh's championship challenge will be threatened, the event will be as spectacular as it has always been. The other one make event which is for Mini's has been dominated by veteran Mini driver Rohith de Silva. He has been so far ahead of his competitors that the event has not been the most exciting. We hope that the other competitors in this event would have learnt the technology behind the performance of Rohith's car and would have incorporated this technology into their cars, so spectators can view some competitive racing.

In the event for post 1985 Formula Ford's, Romani de Silva is clearly in the lead, but his lead is not sufficient for him to relax. He has a lead of 3 points over Rohan de Silva and a lead of 5 points over Rizvie Farouk. So, Romani must win to ensure his championship challenge is ensured. Rizvy, Rohan and Dinesh Jayawardena will all contest this event keenly. All cars and drivers are so close to each other in terms of machinery and talent so not event astrologers would dare make a prediction of the outcome.

The support events for the day will attract the usual tense competition. The fastest standard car event has grown to be one of the most interesting events of the day, where Dinesh Jayawardena will be pitted against Elly Gershon. Elly has shown that he is a remarkable driver, getting the better of his competitors in most of his outings. The clinically aggressive driving of Elly is really a treat to watch, and a grid of Honda Vtec's all with power outputs of over 170 bhp will provide spectators a very reverberating atmosphere. The little Citroen Saxo will again be hotly pursued by Shirendra Lawrence in his classic MR2, and Zacky in his Honda.

The Suntell Wow championship finale will see Sri Lankan motor racing at its best. The event is organised by the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, and hence spectators are assured of a well organised meet that is run to time. The Pannala Track has vastly developed infrastructure with clean toilets, excellent food, and vantage points where the entire circuit is visible. Pannala is definitely the place to be on the 21st of November.
