By Marlon Fernandopulle
Sri
Lanka's champion off spinner Muttiah Muraitharan received the all
clear green light from his Australian surgeon Dr. David Young following
a medical examination earlier this week at a Melbourne hospital.
According
to the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Mohan De Silva, Dr Young
has expressed satisfaction over the progress that Muralitharan has
made in the past three months. Speaking to the Sunday Times, De
Silva said, "Murali has been asked by Dr Young to start bowling
again. In fact he has been told to gradually increase his frequency
of bowling over the next one month or so".
Meanwhile
Muralitharan’s manager Kushil Gunasekera also confirmed that
the the off spinners surgeon Dr David Young has expressed satisfaction
of Murali’s progress after surgery.
Muttiah
Muralitharan, Sri Lanka s leading wicket taker with 532 Test wickets
has been out of cricket since pulling out of the second test against
South Africa at the SSC on the 11th of August. Later he underwent
an operation in Australia on his bowling arm to remove a cyst, which
was causing him a lot of pain.
The
off spinner has been globe trotting during the last few months to
raise funds for the Muralitharan-Gunasekera charity. However, now
that his surgeon has requested the bowler to start bowling once
again, Muralitharan is expected to begin his preparations with the
intention of playing in the second test match against New Zealand
in early January next year. Muttiah Muralitharan is due back tomorrow. |
