The other phase of Chaminda Vaas
By Marlon Fernandopulle
Sri Lanka's Premier medium pace bowler Chaminda Vaas made a crucial breakthrough when he donated essential school items to one hundred under privileged school children from Norton Bridge in the Maskeliya district on Friday.

It was Chaminda Vaas's first act in this newly elected role through the Muralitharan,Vaas Gunasekera Foundation to which the Lankan medium pace bowler became a partner this month.

According Kushil Gunasekera the live wire manager of the three-pronged foundation "It was indeed a very touching moment as all the young school children accepted the goodies from Chaminda so gracefully. They seemed to have appreciated his presence more than the gifts themselves. The school children received a school bag, shoes, books and uniforms from the Lankan cricketer".

The ceremony took place at the Wimalasurendra power station premises in Norton Bridge arranged by their welfare group as per the initiative taken by the engineer in charge Mr Saumya Kumarawadu and the entire presentation was coordinated by the Foundation of which the founder Trustee is Kushil Gunasekera.
