SLT
to get its dues: Minister
Posts and Telecommunications Minister D.M. Jayaratne told Parliament
that action has been taken to collect the Rs. 800 million due to
Sri Lanka Telecom by one of its UK-based joint ventures - the providers
of the Sigiri card that provide cheap international calls to Sri
Lankans residing in Europe.
The
minister made the comment when the issue was raised by UNP's Moneragala
district MP Dharmadasa Banda who referred to the article in The
Sunday Times of November 26 titled "SLT draws debt fresco on
Sigiri card."
Mr.
Banda said this was a dangerous trend when insolvent companies try
to do business in the country and added such companies should not
be allowed into the country. |
