Rail
fares up, buses under one authority
Train commuters will soon have to pay more for their rail rides,
Transport Minister Felix Perera told Parliament yesterday.
Mr.
Perera said the increase would be made after discussions with relevant
authorities. He said railway commuters were paying only thirty-one
cents per kilometre at present it needed to be revised. Speaking
on the votes of the Ministry of Transport, the Minister said the
cluster bus companies would be abolished and the Sri Lanka Transport
Board would be once again brought under the control of a central
authority. |
