Golf Classic at Ridgeways
The glorious teenager Picanto from the CERATO - Optima Kia family
was the star attraction at the Golf Classic sponsored by the irrepressible
Mahen Thambiah the Chief Executive of Car Plan. He had hefty support
from Lasantha de Silva and Rodney Mason. The 2 day encounter was
a rousing success despite unkind weather and a partially sodden
course.
Dharmaratne
wins
The other teenager was remarkably skillful. Zen Dharmaratne
a slim little fella shows excellent talent. He hits a long accurate
ball and is extremely confident on the greens. He picked 2 stunning
scores of nett 67 & 66 to win the KIA Trophy plus the handsome
millennium Cup amidst loud applause when he collected his trophy
from Mahen Tambiah.
Dilini
Shines
Dilini de Soysa scored a well calculated superbly measured
one under par nett 70 to win a handsome trophy in the Ladies Division.
Coming behind was Y.R. Ham on a nett par round of 71 which was good
for the Korean lass.
Gymkhana
Events
After 2 consistently indifferent rounds of nett 74 each
Tissa Jayasinghe was awarded a special prize for picking the best
score among Kia owners. He was so completely rapt over this success
that he moved into the queue to register for the stylish teenager
PICANTO. Mystery surrounded the shot played by Narendra Wijemanne.
The massive man could not account for what he thought was stylish
shot. The ball disappeared from the scene and quite suddenly appeared
as it banged on the bonnet of a moving OPTIMA on the outskirts of
the fairways. The affable Mahen Thambiah thought it was a great
shot richly deserving recognition. Narendra Wijemanne was rewarded.
Cocktails
& Awards
Car Plan played excellent hosts at a superb Cocktail Party
packed to capacity with a choice collection of fun loving people.
Gavin Senn on Sax was classy. The Award Ceremony was easy on the
eyes with 2 micro mini skirted models helping Thambiah at award
time. Kumar Boralessa and Mahen Thambiah were eloquent - the master
of ceremonies was wearisome. |
