‘Deflection’: New Country band in town
‘Deflection’ is the latest Country and Western outfit to break in to the Lankan music scene, led by veteran country singer Rohan Silva. All six member of ‘Deflection’ has been in the music scene for a very long time and have played with top bands in Sri Lanka namely ‘Cosmic Rays’, ‘Orange Blossom Special’, ‘Stage Coach’, and ‘Red Sand’.

“We are the only band, which plays authentic country instruments such as pedal steel guitar, fiddle(violin), mandolin along with other modern instruments.” said Rohan, the leader of the band.‘Deflection’ is under sponsorship of Carlsberg and they perform all C - vibes outlets.

JAIC, Echelon Pub, Deli Market, Colombo Swimming Club, Rowing Club, Clancy’s are some of the places that we have performed during our short spell’ he said.

‘Deflection’ comprises Rohan Silva (pedal steel guitar, mandolin, harmonica, acoustic guitar and vocals),Kumara Fernando(guitar and vocals),Nalaka Sylva(acoustic guitar, bass and vocals), Ananda Wedanda( violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin and vocals), Dilhan Wisidagama(drums and vocals), Nirantha Alexander (keyboards, guitar and vocals) and Rohan Martin on vocals. ‘Still we have not signed with any place for the December 31 dance. Got few places but yet not finalized’ he added.
