We
are the future
Moves are underway in the US to make a “We Are The World II”
charity record. According to reports the mastermind behind the project
is Jermain Dupri. It also appears the song will be titled “We
Are The Future” following some talks with the song’s
original producer Quincy Jones.
The original version of “We Are The World” was recorded
in 1985 by various artistes who banded themselves together as –
U.S.A. for Africa.
In
the UK, Band Aid 20 have held on to the No.1 position on the singles
chart for a second week. The estimated sale of the CD is 50,000
copies.
“Do They Know It’s Christmas” may stick on the
No. 1 spot next week and week after – the Christmas weekend.
The
highest new entry on the UK chart this week was by Australian singer
Kylie Minogue. It is taken from her latest ‘Ultimate Kylie’
collection. The album of Kylie hits also contains another new track
which is destined to be released around February or March 2005.
‘Ultimate Kylie’ is her second collection of greatest
hits to be released.“I Believe In You” entered the chart
at No.2. It’s her biggest chart performance since “Slow”
topped the chart last November.
Only
three new entries hit the singles chart this week. Robbie Williams’
“Misunderstood” checked in at No.8. Once again his single
is taken from his ‘Greatest Hits’ collection. “Misunderstood”
is the second new track to be taken off the collection. “Radio”
the first new track reached the top of the chart in October.
The
Latin flavoured “Obsession (Si Es Amor)” by 3rd Wish
entered the chart at No.15. The American trio simply took Central
Europe by storm according to reports a few months ago with “Obsession”.
The group gets a serious rating unlike better known acts like Maroon
5 who have to finish off 2004 with “Sunday Morning”
– the latest release debuting at No. 27.
The
Godfather of Soul – James Brown has been diagnosed with prostate
cancer. Brown- 71 had just completed a tour of Canada and was planning
the release of his autobiography I Feel Good: A Memoir Of A Life
Of Soul next month.

the US rap act is upset after Australian immigration officers lectured
them on how they should behave on tour. The group members were reportedly
told not to incite young people as they tour Perth, Melbourne, Sydney
and Brisbane. Eminem who is part of D12 is not with the collective
act on the Australian tour.
A
parent who pur chased the ‘Evanescence’ album “Anywhere
But Home” at a Wal-Mart store in Maryland, USA has filed action
against the store claiming $74,000 in damages for selling the CD
without the “Parental Advisory Sticker”.
According to a report from the US, Travin Spencer purchased a copy
of the CD for his teenage daughter but was shocked when heard the
“F” word on one of the Evanescence songs.
Former
member of the heavy metal band Pantera - Darrell Abbott was shot
dead at a concert in Columbus, US while performing with Damageplan
on December 8. A 25-year-old man identified as James Gale got on
the stage – apparently blamed Abbott for Pantera’s breakup
and opened fire. Two others were also killed. The gunmen was shot
dead by a police officer according reports from the US. |
