By Asif Fuard
The Colombo Magistrate's court has called for details
of Deepthi Bogollagama's telephone bills to ascertain details of
the conversations that took place before the an alleged stabbing
incident. Minister Rohitha Bogollagama's wife, Deepthi is alleged
to have stabbed Dr. S. Narenthiran at his residence.
Colombo
Additional Magistrate Mohammed Irshadeen ordered Sri Lanka Telecom
to hand over the details of the phone calls made from the doctor's
residence, to the police for further investigations. Mrs. Bogollagama
and Dr. Narenthiran were summoned to Courts on Monday after the
police filed their reports on the investigations.
Although
attempted murder is a bailable offence, Mrs. Bogollagama has not
yet been arrested to be given bail. She was seen at Shahrukh Khan's
concert on Saturday and later at President Chandrika Kumaratunga's
10th Anniversary celebrations which was held in Matara. Ms. Bogollagama
told the Borella police last Saturday that her stabbing the Doctor
at his residence at Gunasekara Gardens in Colombo was an act of
self defence since he had tried to sexually molest her.
Dr.
Narenthiran was stabbed after he and his wife Dr. Nishadi Ranasinghe
failed to turn up in courts on the previous day in a defamation
case filed where Mr. Bogollagama is implicated.
She
had wanted to amicably settle the case Mr. Bogollagama had filed
against Dr. Nishadi Ranasinghe for an alleged illicit relationship
with him as it was tarnishing the Minister’s good name. The
case has been re-fixed for January 4, 2005. |
