Music lovers are in for a treat when talented pianist Shani Diluka
Abeygooneratne performs in concert with her husband cellist Eric-Maria
Couturier at the Colombo Plaza on December 21. The glittering event
will be presented by Mano Chanmugam in association with Hi!! Magazine.
Shani
was born in Monaco to Sri Lankan parents. She completed her studies
at the Academy of Music Prince Rainer III. Thereafter she entered
the National Conservatory of Music of Nice, receiving in both these
institutions much acclaim both for piano and chamber music. Shani
went on to the Paris National Superior Conservatory obtaining the
highest distinction - the Superior Diploma of Music and winning
the Prix Daniel Magne for the year 2001.
Shani
first appeared on the National TV of France at the age of nine and
at 16, she performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Nice and
the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sri Lanka. Since then she has appeared
in concerts in many European countries and Sri Lanka.
Shani
was recently selected out of 400 pianists for the international
academy, Palazzo Delvescovo, Italy. In July 2001, Shani won the
Natexis competition, which awarded her sponsorship for concerts
and a CD recording contract for three years. |
