Wickremasinghe
captures Life Member's Trophy
Reliable reports have it that Tissa Wickremasinghe has to get a
Visa from the boss of the domestic front to move into the Ridgeways
from his Lake Drive residence and invariably these Visas are only
one visit shots.
Working
on such a visa Wickremasinghe went for the first round of the Life
Member's Trophy and registered a stunning victory over Mohan Selvaratnam
7 & 6. Further reports have it that the Visa Officer on the
domestic front was so elated that Tissa was issued a multiple entry
thereafter and taking advantage of this freedom he smashed his way
to the quarter finals with consummate ease.
Gathering
match experience Wickremasinghe's game improved considerably. His
next victim was V.T. Sundaralingam a seasoned campaigner. The Super,
Cop had no time to settle defeated by a smashing margin 6 &
5. Spritely Lal Dias then moved in to give Wickremasinghe a helluva
fright. Dias had a firm grip on the game and at one time had victory
in sight but he faltered a couple of times to find Wickremasinghe
pouncing on him to take victory 3 & 2 Finals
Johnny
Attygalle had a gruelling time reaching the finals. He played excellent
rounds and richly deserved the success he achieved even though he
came to grief meeting Tissa Wickremasinghe in the finals. Wickremasinghe
had by now matured into a confident, steady and reliable stroke
player making Johnny Attygalle an inadequate opponent.
Wickremasinghe
struck hole by hole. 3 up on the 10th Wickremasinghe careered to
win the 11th & 12th and on the 13th his stunning tee shot gave
him a comfortable par and a more comfortable victory 6 & 5.
Wickremasinghe jumped on the victory stand on the 19th and with
Johnny Attygalle and a few others there was incessant celebration
over the Pride of Scotland. Wickremasinghe took the 2005 Life Member's
Trophy. |
