Mahathir, Imran
to address CIMA summit here
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed, one of Asia's
most successful leaders, will be making his first visit to Sri Lanka
in May - attending CIMA Sri Lanka's global summit as the keynote
speaker.
Also
billed to speak at the same CIMA global leaders summit 2005, titled
"Passion for Perfection" is former Pakistani test cricket
captain Imran Khan.
Popularly
known as Mahathir, the former PM, architect of Malaysia's economic
boom, hasn't visited Sri Lanka before, according to the Malaysian
High Commission in Colombo which is unaware of the visit.
They
are among a galaxy of Asian and Sri Lankan business leaders taking
part in the high profile May 26-27 meeting at the BMICH. The conference
is expected to attract 1000 people at the inauguration of which
700 delegates - both international and local - would take part in
the technical sessions.
Among
the presenters are Sri Lankan-born Raj Rajaratnam, founder and Managing
Partner of US-based The Galleon Group and one of the biggest investors
in the Colombo bourse, Malaysia's Tony Fernandes Director &
Group Chief Officer, AirAsia Berhad and Sri Lanka's Priyan Fernando,
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Global Business
Travel at American Express Company.
Fernando,
based in New York, leads an organizaton of over 12,000, comprising
the largest travel management company in the world. Both Mahathir
and Khan would be spending just a day in Sri Lanka due to busy schedules,
