Four
leggeds get better attention
Amidst all the different bodies that have come into being after
the tsunami, the latest is the 'Tsunami Memorial Animal Welfare
Trust' which is seeking an alternative way to manage the stray animal
population without resorting to killing them.
The
Trust will conduct a spay/neuter and vaccination clinic which will
commence on Monday from 9 a.m under the auspices of the Colombo
Municipal Council, at the residence of the Mayor.
When
there are so many protests being launched by human tsunami victims,
it is good to see that at least animals getting more consideration.
Top
man to go?
The President had ordered that Deputy Director General
(News and Current Affairs) of the national television station be
sacked immediately after the recent shuffle in powers at the Media
Ministry.
But
instead of being sacked, he has been transferred to another sister
channel, which already has a DGM. Now it seems the top man himself
will have to go for disobeying orders.
No
queue jump here
A deputy minister recently came to have lunch at a fast
food outlet in Colombo with his wife and daughter. But he was not
alone. His entourage of bodyguards came as well. And they were helpful
in a sense. They took turns standing in the long queue that people
had to wait in to get their food. And this was one queue they could
not jump. |
