The
Serasinghe-Perera connection
All rounders Oshadee Serasinghe and Arosha Perera shone in the drawn
encounter of the 30th Battle of Kotte between St Thomas’ Kotte
and Sri Jayawardenapura MMV concluded at the P. Sara Stadium yesterday.
But the Thomians on virtue of a first innings win regained the Dr.
G.M. Perera trophy which was on offer.
The
match belonged to Oshadee Serasinghe who followed his 7 for 17 in
the first innings of SJMV to hit a 51 and was supported by Arosha
Perera who hit a blazing 103 in 138 balls with 11 boundaries and
a six to give St. Thomas' Kotte a first innings score of 275 all
out in reply to SJMV's score of 95. Serasinghe and Perera and added
a valuable 96 runs for the seventh wicket which helped the Thomians
to make this score from their overnight score of 149 for 6.
SJMV
batting the second time were 179 for 2 with Kanishka Perera and
Damith Ananda making 82 n.o. and 58 n.o. Ananda also claimed five
wickets for 52. Sri Jayawardenapura MMV 95 (Oshadee Serasinghe 7
