10-acre HSZ for CBK at Madiwela
President Chandrika Kumaratunga will receive not only one-and-half-acre block of land free. There is more. A further extent of 10 acres surrounding her land is to be declared a High Security Zone (HSZ).

A number of restrictions will appear in this HSZ. That will include a ban on the construction of high rise buildings and a ‘dos and don’ts’ catalogue which the residents will be required to follow.

The land for President Kumaratunga’s private residence after her retirement was approved at the Cabinet this week after Urban Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena submitted a cabinet paper.

Mr. Gunawardena told The Sunday Times that the land would be provided in the Madiwela Gramasevaka division, close to the Parliamentary complex.
