College dominate girl’s events
Navy
stun favourites to win regatta

Sri Lanka Navy and Ladies College emerged overall champions at the
22nd Rowing National Championship Regatta concluded at the Beira
Lake yesterday.
This is the first time that Navy has come into the picture in an
event which was previously dominated by Colombo Rowing Club, Royal
and S. Thomas’ Mt.Lavinia.
Sri
Lanka Navy won the senior and intermediate categories while the
junior category was won by Royal College Colombo. In the women’s
section Ladies College swept the board by winning the senior, junior
and intermediate events.
In the senior sculls Navy A beat Colombo Rowing Club. The Navy A
team comprised: B.N. Shantha and S.D. Fonseka. Their time was 6.15
seconds. Colombo Rowing Club returned a time of 6.50 seconds.
