STF exposes LTTE child conscription
The Special Task Force (STF) yesterday deplored the continuous child conscription by the LTTE. In a press release it questioned LTTE claims of representing the Tamil people, saying it was inhumanely persisting with child recruitment while denying its involvement in such acts.

“Can you imagine the age of this young person who can still be called a child? STF troops came across this photograph in one of their security procedures at Vinayagapuram, Thirukkovil in Ampara District. This child had been conscripted by the LTTE. These inhuman acts are rampant despite repeated denials by the LTTE”, the press release said.

“The STF is further probing several other instances where teenagers have been abducted. It is reported that the LTTE has forced several families including this boy’s family to settle down in Thangaveladhipuram in close proximity to their Kanjikudichchiaru Base. They have been forced to settle against their will,” the press release added.
