Polls
chief’s appeal to Geneva next week
Elections Commisioner Dayananda Dissanayake’s attorney Elmore
Perera said he would present the required documents next week to
the Geneva-based Human Rights Committee asking for interim relief.
The
findings of the H.R. Committee will help clear the polls chief’s
name that he had not violated any fundamental rights. The Supreme
Court had earlier refused to accept the application filed by the
Elections Commissioner seeking revision on the judgment delivered
earlier with regard to the date of the Presidential Election and
also instructed the Supreme Court deputy Registrar Ms. Hema Ratnayaka
not to entertain any papers regarding this matter as it has been
finalised by the Supreme Court.
