JKH maintains profit growth despite tsunami
John Keells Holdings has increased profits for the second quarter of the 2006 financial year with a good performance from its property and transportation businesses cushioning the downturn in its tourism sector.

Profits for the quarter were up 12 percent to Rs 730 million, JHK chairman Vivendra Lintotawela said. He also said that there were early signs of a revival in the tourism industry which took a hit from the downturn in arrivals after the tsunami. JKH leisure sector profits registered a sharp decline in profitability, as expected, because of the tsunami.
