There was drama at Havelock Park last evening when the ultimate cup finalist of the Western Province Rugby Tournament (WPRFU) Havelocks SC failed to turn up for their final against the CR & FC conceding a walk over to the Longden Place club.

When contacted by Sunday Times Wimal Senanayake of Havies confirmed that seven of their players were turning out for their employers John Keells in their inter department tournament yesterday.

Speaking to Sunday Times CR& FC President Ravi Balasuriya said that he was disappointed with a top division club cannot find 15 players. He confirmed that Pushpakumara (Trinity), Riyal (St Anthony’s) and Premaratne (Kingswood) will turn out for the ‘Red Shirts’ in the coming season.

In the Plate Final Petersons SC beat Ruhunu RFC by 20 points (1 goal, 2 tries, 1 penalty) to nil after leading 7 up at the short breather. For the winners centre Anushka Asanka contributed 15points through 2 tries, 1 penalty and a conversion. The other try was planted by flanker Nilantha Kumara.
