‘Aganthukaya’
copies in India
Veteran filmmaker Vasantha Obeysekere's latest film ‘Aganthuakaya’
(Outcast), completed its editing and dubbing and has been sent to
India for the printing.
‘The
digital editing of the film was completed just in three days at
TVT studio’ director Obeysekere said. ‘The editor Ravindra
Guruge did an excellent job completing its editing just in three
days and I am quite happy with the final touches given to the film’
he added.
‘I
will be saving Rs 1.5 million for the Film Corporation by completing
the film with a budget of Rs. 6 million. The film sponsored by the
National Film Corporation (NFC) giving directors selected from the
scripts submitted was granted Rs 7.5 million. But I managed to complete
the shooting with just 20,000 feet of reel and in eighteen days
shooting’ the experienced director said.
‘I
am quite satisfied with Rohana Weerasinghe's background score which
was completed in a limited number of days. I am hoping to get the
mother print in two weeks time’ he said.
One
of the five films sponsored by the NFC, the story of Aganthukaya
revolves around a tragic plight of a principal.
Dealing
with the repercussions of the politicising of society the film narrates
the plight of a principal who was caught between the principles
he lived for and how he withstood pressure from outside.
The
main roles are played by Saumya Liyanage, Chandani Seneviratne and
Sanath Gunatilake. Photographed by Mahesh Nishantha, Aganthukaya
is produced by Malcolm Manthara. "The arrangements have been
made for the release of the film in March next year," Mr. Obeysekere
said.
