Indictment soon in Sivaram killing:State Counsel

The Attorney General is to file indictment against the suspect Sriskandarajah in the killing of journalist R. Sivaram, State Counsel Achchala Wellipuli informed the Kaduwela Magistrate on Tuesday.

Mr. Sivaram was abducted opposite a restaurant in Bambalapitiya by unknown persons and his body was later found bound and gagged near the Parliament complex.

When the case was taken up for inquiry the Colombo Crime Division(CCD) submitted a report to court with the information regarding the evidence collected proved that the suspect was directly involved in the Sivaram killing. On the basis of the statement made by the suspect another suspect was to be arrested in due course, the CCD said.

State Counsel objected to the bail application. The magistrate ordered the suspect to be further remanded.
