Fancy a peek at the biggest Yamaha Motorcycle in the world? Then
walk into the Yamaha showrooms and take a look at the SGR 1300 cc
being shown purely for exhibition purposes.
The
use of motor cycles of this capacity is prohibited in Sri Lanka
where only up to 350 cc is permitted. Company officials said Defence
Ministry permission has to be obtained for using motorcycles above
this capacity.
Yamaha
motorcycles are marketed by the Associated Motorways Ltd and these
mega motorcycles were brought down exclusively for exhibition purposes.
They
would be shipped back to Japan in the next four months. The latest
Yamaha 2005 model – doesn’t have cables but the brakes
and clutch work on hydraulics. Fuel consumption would be around
8 to 10 km per litre.
The
bike is fitted with two cylinders and each cylinder works with two
spark plugs. It does not have chains and a differential, but works
with a belt. This bike is also expensive and probably costs around
Rs 3 million, according to some sources.
